Alleviate parking problems and get richer in the 8th District of Budapest!

Ziele/Ideen

This short video targets the problem in the 8th Disctrict of Budapest: parking fees are by far lower than the damages caused by on-street parking: parking takes away space which could be used for purposes that protect and improve people’s health and well being: space for social interaction, greenery, physical activities. Free or low-cost parking also contributes to higher traffic, i.e. more air pollution, noise, less traffic safety.

Kurzbeschreibung

Clean Air Action Group (CAAG) has a long history of communicating the unsustainable parking situation in Budapest and proposing solutions. Increasing parking fees can result in significant changes in the use of public space: more space for social activities, vegetation, better air quality and so on.
The project is part of the campaign to raise awarness of the problem and demondstrate the benefits of increased parking fees. Besides publishing articles on the topic, a short information video was produced and shared on social media.

Resultate

The video reached more than 45.000 targeted viewers, the majority of them residents of the 8th District. Although fewer in number, the most engaged reaches were achieved on Facebook. The topic is now being discussed by municipal stakeholders. The developments in the District could serve as guidance for other municipalities in Budapest.
